一方、本田と今回提携した二つのクラブは、どちらも「チーム」として日本サッカー協会に登録しており、公式戦に出場しています。「S.T.FOOTBALL CLUB」は東京都の清瀬市内山運動公園などで活動する中学年代のクラブチームで、かつて「帝京FC」と呼ばれたチームの流れを汲んでいます。なかなかの強豪で、私も今年一度観ているのですが、夏の全日本クラブユース選手権では激戦区の関東予選を突破し、ベスト32まで勝ち進んでいます。
一方、「摂津パルティーダ」は本田の生まれ故郷である大阪府摂津市のチームですね。もともとはサッカースクールとしての活動からスタートしたそうですが、市内の中学校チームが人数不足に陥るなどしたこともあってクラブチームとして登録。子どもたちの受け皿となったそうです。
新しいクラブチームを立ち上げるとなると障害も大きいのが日本クラブユース界の現状なので、これまでも取り組んできたサッカースクールの事業と合わせ、既存のチームと提携してやっていく方向を選択したということなのでしょう。「本田」の存在は子どもたちにとって自然な刺激となるでしょうし、日本のジュニアユース年代を活性化する材料として機能してくれればと思います。
