サッカー日本代表の新しい監督に元メキシコ代表監督のアギーレ氏が就任することが決まりました。
これは日本サッカー協会の原博実専務理事が記者会見して発表しました。

　すでに報道で語られ尽くしてはいましたが、アギーレさんが日本代表新監督に決まりました。あまりにも交渉の過程がダダ漏れなので、猜疑心の強い一部のメディア関係者は「フェイク情報では？」と疑っていましたけれど、今回は本当でした。すべてを秘密裏に、情報を共有していたのはわずか4人という体制で交渉に臨んだ4年前とは対照的でしたね。

　南アフリカでの「成功」の直後だった4年前は原さんが全権を委任してもらえたけれども、その結果であるブラジルでの惨敗を受けて、今回は交渉の過程を逐一広い範囲へと共有する必要に迫られたのかもしれません。今回は報道機関への情報のリークが継続して行われることとなりました。あるいは「恩を売っておこう」というより高度な判断だったのかもしれませんが……。

　中には「新監督を選ぶのが早すぎる」という人もいるようですが、欧州のシーズンがオープンになってから探し始めたのでは、そこにいるのは“残り物”。来年1月にアジアカップがあることを考えても、これは早くに動いておくしかないでしょう。アギーレ政権の初動が8月末であることを考えても、やはりギリギリのタイミングだったように思います。
