Aグループは首位から6位まで可能性を残すという情勢でしたが、試合のなかったG大阪と、これが初めてのベスト8進出となる神戸の関西勢2クラブが抜け出す結果となりました。

神戸は開始47秒での森岡亮太のゴールで仙台からリードを奪う幸先の良いスタート。しかし仙台の高卒3年目、MF藤村慶太（盛岡商業高校）の嬉しいプロ初ゴールで同点に追い付かれる苦しい展開に。このまま試合終了かと思われましたが、ペドロ・ジュニオールのロスタイムゴールが決まって劇的な勝ち抜け。安達亮監督、持ってます。

一方、勝っていれば突破だった清水ですが、鹿島MF土居聖真の見事なミドルシュート、柴崎岳のスルーパスから大卒ルーキーのFW赤崎秀平にゴールを許すという形で苦杯。鹿島は3点差以上で勝利した上で“他力本願”という状況で見事なミッションコンプリート。結局、届かなかったものの、小笠原満男らを外した若手主体のメンバー構成でこの結果はリーグ後半戦に繋がるんではないかと思います。


浦和の突破がすでに決まっていたBグループは、柏、名古屋、新潟、そして試合のない甲府が2位を狙う情勢でした。

常識的に考えれば突破が決まった直後の浦和と当たる名古屋はラッキー……と言いたいところでしたが、実際は原口元気ラストマッチというモチベーションが付与されており、「ノープレッシャーだがやる気は十分」という最強の精神状態。名古屋にとって、むしろアンラッキーな巡り合わせでした。大量5点を奪った浦和が、名古屋の反撃を押さえて逃げ切りとなりました。

このスキに2位を確保したのは、徳島相手に4点を奪って大勝した柏。田中順也のPKで先制し、そのまま押し切る勝利で、ディフェンディングチャンピオンが8強に生き残りました。

また新潟は大量得点勝利で可能性が出るという難しい状況でドロー。これで敗退となりましたが、高卒ルーキーのMF小泉慶が台頭するなど収穫のある大会だったのではないでしょうか。
