ガンバ大阪が来シーズンからホームスタジアムとして使用する「市立吹田サッカースタジアム」の竣工イベントが１０月１０日行われました。イベントには建設費を寄付したサポーターや関係者など４３９４人が招待されました。

サッカー専用スタジアムだけに、観客席はタッチラインから７ｍ、ゴールラインから１０ｍという近さ。臨場感溢れるスタジアムは、日本のサッカー観戦の概念さえ変えそうな気配が漂う。大型ビジョンに流されたビデオメッセージで挨拶した遠藤保仁は「僕も色んなところで試合をしてきましたけど、世界的に見てもひけを取らないスタジアム」と話した。
さらにホーム側のゴール裏ではサポーターらが「２０１０ １０ １０ 祝 竣工」の文字をコレオグラフィーで表現。イベントの冒頭では大型ビジョンに「聖地変換」の文字が映し出されたが、いよいよ来シーズン、日本サッカー界の目玉となりうる新スタジアムが稼働する。
